injector lockup?

has anyone had an injector actually lock up? my car has been running great (RC 370cc injectors & cartech + vafc), then all of the sudden it started missing real bad... I changed the fuel settings several times, to no avail, I pulled the plugs and #4 was really black... I changed the plugs, drove around for a while (the problem persisted) then pulled the plugs again... 1, 2, & 3 all looked like they were new out of the box, and 4 was black... so I put the stock injectors back in and it runs a lot better... do you guys think I locked a disc style injector open maybee? or maybee some dirt got in there and ruined it? I have never heard of the #4 cyl. running richer than the others, although it is the frist on the fuel supply line...

Have you tried swapping injector #3 with injector #4? It sounds like you've narrowed it down to the injector, but just to double-check (and say that you did so in case RC asks you to), I'd swap them.
